Brief Bio
Melissa Hotchkiss' poetry has appeared in Marlboro Review, LIT, Upstairs at Duroc, The Lyric Review, 3rd Bed, Diner and other magazines. Her prose has appeared in the New Virginia Review and The New York Times. Melissa is a founding editor of the poetry journal Barrow Street and also ran the Barrow Street Reading Series in the West Village for 8 years. Barrow Street, Inc., is a non-profit organization based in New York City.  Her first book, Storm Damage, was published by Tupelo Press.  She is working on her second book entitled Waterline.

Melissa Hotchkiss was featured (along with two other writers) in Time Out NY's Summer Books 2001 section 'Narrow Margins', an article highlighting three different writers and how they make their art and make ends meet in New York City.

Melissa's poem and prose appeared in the Long Island NY Times Summer Issue on May 20, 2001. Her poem 'Fragments/Morning' was written specifically to accompany the photographic essay.

Storm Damage was reviewed in Time Out NY, June 24, 2002; in The Journal, Spring/Summer 2004; in Prairie Schooner, Winter 2004; and also at NewPages.com.
